A big thank you to Julie Papworth who provided this historical document dating back to 1948. One of the things that stood out to me is that this was a residential course, due to the lack of space attendees were asked to share a double bed with a friend optionally for a fee of 5 shillings you could have a room in the Joseph Rowntree Village.

“I have been sorting out my late Mother’s papers and have found a little pamphlet (size A5) of the syllabus of a weekend course in bee-keeping which she attended on 26th-27th June 1948 in York. The Yorkshire Bee-Keepers Association ran this. I think she went on it to please my late Grandfather (her future Father-in-Law), a keen bee-keeper at that time. There are also a couple of photographs possibly related to the course, or my Grandfather’s hives. In addition, there is a small leaflet about the ‘Incidence and control of foulbrood in the North and East Ridings of Yorkshire'”.
