What is WhatsApp and Communities

The WhatsApp mobile application was developed with a singular goal: to provide free instant messaging. Today, WhatsApp has transformed into much more and is now accessible on desktops via WhatsApp Web.

The introduction of WhatsApp Communities allows users to create a centralised page for hosting multiple group chats in one convenient location. The new community feature includes WhatsApp video, audio, text chat, and:

• Enhanced file-sharing capacity
• Emoji reactions
• In-platform polls
• Multiple administrators
• Option

YBKA WhatsApp Community Rules

WhatsApp groups become invaluable to members of our community when utilised appropriately. Excessive or inappropriate messaging can overshadow important content or make members feel alienated.

To ensure the WhatsApp Community is used responsibly and effectively, the YBKA Committee has established the following guidelines for members:

• Fostering Inclusivity and Positivity: Use the WhatsApp groups to build inclusive and positive connections within our community. The groups are designed for helping, sharing, and clarifying communications. Avoid airing personal viewpoints and opinions- instead offer alternative perspectives.
• Respecting Diversity in Beekeeping: Recognise that there are various beekeeping methods. You may have your preferences, but respect others’ rights to manage their bees and apiaries as they see fit.
• Maintaining a Safe and Respectful Space:
  • Privacy: Do not share others’ personal information, conversations, or media without explicit consent. Also be mindful of copyright and share content responsibly.
  • Constructive Feedback: Provide feedback and advice that is supportive, not critical or in a way that could be taken as a personal attack.
  • Mindful Communication: Be aware that tone is hard to gauge in text. Use clear language and emojis to help convey your message positively. 😋👍🤞👌👏😉🐝
• Ensuring Relevance and Focus:
  • Stay On Topic: Keep discussions relevant to the group’s purpose. For off-topic conversations, consider direct messaging (DM) or other platforms.
  • No Spam: Avoid posting spam, advertisements, or irrelevant links to keep discussions focused.
  • Handling Concerns: Report any behaviour violating guidelines or causing discomfort to an administrator privately, ensuring a safe environment. Taking screen-shots can help.
• Respecting Community Guidelines:
  • Avoiding Sensitive Topics: Steer clear of political discussions and comments that could offend or marginalise any group or protected characteristics.
  • Accountability: Members who consistently violate these guidelines may be subject to suspension by the administrators. Admins reserve the right to delete comments they feel breach the guidelines.
